Create Meaningful Safety Training Your Employees Will Love

A good safety training program is simple, efficient, experiential, and designed for your employees. We’ve done it before, and we will do it for you. Read the case study below.

What did they want?

Over the years, they had used a variety of vendors for instructor-led courses, Webex, e-learning, and incomplete training decks to be compliant with various safety training courses. Each time they chose a new vendor, the same problems kept showing up:

  • The training was generic, meaning that it wasn’t catered towards manufacturing, nor the culture of GILLIG.
  • Additional training was always required, because the vendors do not cover the specifics of each company and their procedures (e.g. many vendors do not even include the state requirements).
  • Vendor training tends to be very expensive as they are often setup as a pay-per-view or pay-per-person models.
  • Employees were spending too many hours in unnecessary training classes as a result of pre-packaged courses such as the OSHA-10 or non-specific safety training.

What did we do?

  • We performed a thorough audit and analysis of their current training to define various metrics. This includes hours spent in training and the topics given to each audience. We also gathered injury reports for the topics that they were training.
  • Collaborated with management and the safety team to determine delivery methods, required audience attendance (and optional audiences), and a list of each topic needed.
  • Next, we created custom training decks and e-learnings for each safety topic needed. In this case, we created a program that included the following:
  • Hazard awareness – a general safety overview for all employees
  • PPE (click for free course) – high level overview of general PPE and the appropriate use
  • 7 custom safety courses – NFPA 70E Arc Flash, Lockout / Tagout, Forklift Operator, Fall Protection, Industrial Hygiene, Tool and Ladder Safety, and Confined Space
  • Branded content – All training was built with company logos and colors, pictures of employees, company-specific policies and procedures
