Train the Trainer Classes: 4 Keys to Graduating Quality Trainers

Often times when reviewing training programs, we find that there is one or more of the following items missing.

  1. Training under one roof
  2. Inexperienced developers
  3. Accountability
  4. Trained facilitators

I am here to tell you that all of these are absolutely critical for a successful training program.

Keep the Trainers Together

As you already know, there are many reasons that a training program/team will provide mediocre results. No matter how many “great job” or “that training was good” you recieve, there are likely large gaps in your training programs at your business.

Repetitive training, missing knowledge and skills, inconsistent messaging, and you’ve just begun to understand what happens whem training is not centralized in one location and/or team. By having training materials originate from one location and/or team, you will realize the following benefits:

  • Consistent messaging for all of your training materials, which includes branding, training delivery style, and much more
  • Efficient (and cost-effective) development of training materials because training is almost never a full-time job
  • Collaboration between teams for smoother training course development
  • And much much more….

Are you already getting training from all over the company? then ‘STOP’, gather all of your training materials, and create a designated person, entity, or location to find everything.

Training Development Requires a Wide Skill Set

Our development mechanisms for training programs result in specialized development by those who are best at it. We believe anyone can do any job in the training development life cycle, but they must be both skilled and interested in those tasks.

If someone wants to develop e-learning, they must pass our rigorous methods to ensure they can produce it at a high level.

If they want to quality check modules, they should have an elite-level attention to detail.

If they want to deliver training to learners, they must take our facilitator course and pass rigorous testing measures by other facilitators.

Graphic designer? Well, they should be both skilled and highly efficient in creating graphics, images, and slide visuals.

This is accomplished by keeping a training team under one roof, where all training requests are gathered, then subsequently divided up to the experts which will help create simple, efficient, and experiential learning outcomes.

Accountability

This occurs both with our clients and with SEED employees. While we seek to keep our clients completely happy, we set the goal of creating a collaborative work environment that is always progressing towards the goal. This can be accomplished with regular check-ins and following up all communications.

The developers at SEED will adhere to strict guidelines for each task they perform. Now, they are given the utmost freedom with their creative efforts. But, they also must understand the creativity must be balanced with budgets and time constraints. And this is why we focus on a setting expectations up front to foster an environment where we can beat timelines and come under budget from our competitors.

A Trained Facilitator Can Teach Any Topic

Yes, I said it. A trained facilitator can teach any topic. This is an approach not widely accepted in the training world, and I am still baffled by this concept. Our approach to developing training programs at SEED is one of a comprehensive training package for every module, course, and program. When you couple this with a trained facilitator, the content and the artist delivering the content will always combine to foster an enormously positive training experience.
